Multy Tidy Town

Multyfarnham Tidy Towns was set up to enhancement of the physical and social environment of Multyfarnham, and to represent Multyfarnham in the National Tidy Towns competition. It is made up of volunteer members from the community who give their time and effort to achieve the goals in a fun environment.

The group achieved national acclaim in 1977 by winning the National Tidy town award.

As a group they meet regularly during Spring Summer and Autumn to carry out work on the flower beds, flower pots, planters, the greens, the Park , the community garden etc, They organise the Xmas lights and the crib (in partnership with Multy Menshed) They also have a national clean-up day where members of the wider community are encouraged to give a hand and help clean up the village.

In the grounds of the Friary the Tidy Towns operates an allotment, members of the community are encouraged to come along and use the garden and green house to grow plants and admire the bee hives in situ.

Work is under way to  prepare a Biodiversity Plan for our village, gone is the day when flower beds would win you the tidy towns, now you must have a plan to protect nature and understand it. This is especially true when it comes to one of the most important features of the village ,Gaine river.

The tidy towns acknowledge the help of the CE worker in keeping the village looking well.

We are always looking for volunteers, please come along and get involved in our beautiful village.
